Intern (PGY-1) Call

• In hospital overnight shifts and on occasional weekend day shifts
• Variable based on size of intern class
• Typically 4-6 shifts per month
• Intern on-call always supervised by a senior resident in-house and an attending is always on-call and available by phone.
• Intern field pages from hospital nursing staff and handles overnight hospital admissions.

Senior Resident (PGY-2 & PGY-3) Call

• Varies based on number of senior residents
• Typically 4-6 shifts per month
• In-house senior call
• Field calls from attendings’ and residents' patients, including from nursing homes
• In-house senior supervises and assists intern on call in hospital overnight
